Jim has extensive litigation experience. He is primary litigation counsel for the firm and has responsibility for all litigated collections. His litigation experience includes the areas of commercial litigation, personal injury litigation, and estate litigation. He also has corporate experience having served as general counsel to Faculty Student Association of Downstate Medical Center, Inc. (“FSA”), a not for profit auxiliary services corporation serving the SUNY Downstate Medical Center. In the capacity of general counsel for FSA, he has drafted, negotiated, and reviewed contracts, reviewed and drafted requests for proposal, drafted audit letters, and defended law suits. He also has experience in business and real estate transactions, having represented, buyers and sellers in residential real estate transactions; drafted commercial and residential leases; represented parties in purchase and sale of small businesses; and drafted and negotiated shareholders agreements in closely held corporations.
Jim lives in Oyster Bay and is active in local organizations including; being a past president of the Rotary Club of Oyster Bay, serving a treasurer of the Oyster Bay Rotary Student Loan Foundation, and serving on the Oyster Bay Oyster Festival Committee and the Oyster Bay Charitable Fund.
Shortly after passing the New York State Bar Exam, Jay was admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District, he began his own practice. Emphasizing the areas of real estate and real estate litigation, his practice has grown over the thirty years he’s been in business. In that time he has represented numerous clients both large and small, individuals and large institutions. Such clients have included banking organizations, insurance companies, real estate developers, mortgage bankers, hospitals, and corporate clientele.
Whether it is a presentation to a Board of Directors or a working through an estate with a grieving family, Jay has the ability to connect and understand the concerns of those involved and mediate a productive solution.
Jay was raised and still lives in Bayville with his family.
